This goes out to all brides, grooms and anyone getting married - I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH!!
Wow, it's been 8 months since we got married, the time has FLOWN by! I'm happy to finally have had time after wedding season and the holiday rush to really sit down and relive it through the images. It was such a whirlwind day and easily the most fun day of my life <3 Here are a few of my favorite moments from our day - I hope you enjoy them :)
It's a cliché and everyone will say this to you, but honestly - 'It goes by so fast'. It went by so quickly that we didn't get to hear the string quartet play or see the flowers at the reception before guests sat down for dinner. And you know what? It's totally ok :)
Here is the biggest piece of advice I can offer you from a bride's perspective AND from a wedding vendor's perspective - hire vendors whose work you connect with, but also whose personalities you click with. Once the contracts and checks are signed, you've all agreed on a vision and your to-do lists are checked off - the BEST thing you can do for your stress level and to have the most beautiful day possible - TRUST YOUR VENDORS COMPLETELY. Channel the Frozen theme and 'Let it Go'! They want you to hand it over to them - don't hover, or micromanage or worry. You hired them for a reason and now is your turn to chill and enjoy all the hard work and planning you put into it. They got this, they do it every weekend. Sometimes a couple times every weekend. They got you. We got you :)
It may feel impossible at first, but trust me - this is coming from a type A, lady boss who runs a wedding vendor business - it is hard, but it's the best thing you can do and it FEELS AMAZING. And honestly, your vendors will create better work when they are allowed to get in the zone, focus and do their thang. Thankfully we absolutely chose all the right people - the whole day felt flawless, smooth, blissful and gorgeous. We have so much gratitude for everyone involved. Everything was beautiful, yet not over the top. Classy, yet comfortable. Traditional and moderately whimsical. In a word - Perfect.
It's an amazing feeling to live in the wedding industry, be part of the back-of-house and see all the buzz that puts it together. Being on YOUR side, the bride side, was eye opening and liberating. Because I was able to be completely present on my wedding day and trust my vendors wholly, the only buzz I felt that day was the champagne tingle and butterflies for my new husband <3
So there, that's it! The best thing I did for my wedding photography business? Was to get married! I've been in your shoes (very recently!) and know what you're feeling from the bliss to the stress - you're not alone and I'm happy to help in any way I can!
Congratulations on your engagement and have SO much fun dreaming and planning together! You're going to love the process and your wedding day is going to be magical <3
